A church family since 1913
Founded in September of 1913, Oakland Baptist Church strives to be an inspirational environment in which people of every race and cultural or economic background can participate in collective worship.
As a member of the Southern Baptist Convention, the Georgia Baptist Convention, and the Southside Baptist Network, we stand firm in the belief that the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God, that there is one God, who exists in three persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), and that the only way to salvation is through the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ.
As a body of believers we value every person who comes through our doors through love and compassion and seek to encourage spiritual development and giving of time, abilities, and resources.
Our mission
Oakland Baptist Church accepts three basic teachings to guide our actions and activities.
Glorify God
Through obedient and submissive lives surrendered to His authority, we live – praise – worship and witness to His greatness.
Equip and Encourage
As a “body of believers”, we engage in collective worship, Bible study and fellowship to enable us to live faithful, holy lives in a sinful and chaotic world.
Evangelism
We fully accept the mandate of the Lord to go into the whole world with the message of hope, forgiveness and salvation that can be found in Jesus.
Our values
People
We at Oakland value people over programs and traditions. We seek to express love and compassion to all who come through our doors.
Biblical Application
We believe that we should take what we learn during study and worship and put it into practice in our daily lives – at home – school – or the work place.
Growth
We value spiritual development in people’s lives that is identifiable through maturing life-styles, loss of selfishness and self-centeredness and an increasing desire to bring others to Jesus. We also value numeric growth and believe the church should be continuously growing in size and mission outreach.
Giving
We value the teachings of the Bible which state unequivocally that “God owns everything.” Therefore, we own nothing and should cheerfully and willingly give of our time, abilities, ideas and financial resources for the continued work of the church and its ministries.

Our vision is to be a place where people of every race, cultural background, economic level, educational level and social standing can discover the comfort of being part of a “faith-family” and the joy of a growing relationship with Jesus in a non-threatening environment. We desire to equip every believer for meaningful and significant ministry.

We endeavor to provide a heart-warming and inspirational climate through a blended style of music that crosses generational barriers and allows corporate worship to occur by all who attend and participate.
Preaching
Our preaching is intended to be relevant to today’s issues and is presented in an enthusiastic and interesting format that enables everyone to benefit.
Bible study
Bible studies are designed to equip individuals and families to impact their communities with truth, and provide essential instructions for confronting life in an ever changing world.
